Gang Steals 140 kg of Silver from Chikkaballapur Jewellery Store
A significant jewellery heist occurred in Chikkaballapur, where a gang of unidentified men stole approximately 140 kg of silver ornaments valued at nearly Rs 3 crore. The incident took place on the night of December 24, 2023, as the burglars broke into the store, leaving the local police with little to no immediate evidence.
The burglary was discovered early on December 25 when the shop staff arrived to open the showroom and found the locks broken. Upon notification, police officials promptly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. A police officer stated, “Special teams were formed to trace the accused, and efforts were intensified after it was found that the thieves had also stolen the CCTV DVR from the premises.”
Details of the Burglary
According to police reports, the incident began around 12:10 AM when the intruders attempted to force open the door using an iron rod. Finding this method ineffective, they resorted to using a cutter, which allowed them to gain entry to the store. The burglars spent over three hours inside the shop, filling three bags with silver ornaments before fleeing at approximately 3:10 AM.
The entire episode was recorded on the shop’s CCTV system. However, the thieves managed to take the DVR with them, complicating the investigation. The police are currently analyzing the footage and other evidence to identify the suspects.
Investigative Actions and Detentions
In response to the theft, law enforcement has detained three suspects in connection with the case. Investigators are now working to determine whether these individuals have been involved in similar crimes in the area or beyond. The police have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to recover the stolen items and apprehend those responsible.
As the investigation continues, local residents remain on high alert, concerned about the implications of such a bold daylight heist. The police have called for anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in ensuring safety and security.
This incident highlights vulnerabilities that businesses face, particularly in the jewellery sector, and raises questions about security measures in place for protecting valuable assets.
