John Terry Hails Arsenal’s Max Dowman as Future Star
Arsenal’s 16-year-old star, Max Dowman, made history on Saturday by becoming the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history. His impressive performance in a 2-0 victory against Everton has drawn notable praise, including a comparison to football legend Lionel Messi from former Chelsea captain John Terry.
In a video shared on his TikTok page, Terry expressed his admiration for Dowman’s skill and composure on the field. “Max Dowman. What a player, by the way,” Terry remarked. “At just 16 years of age, almost 17, he is absolutely incredible.” His comments highlight the young player’s ability to navigate past defenders with an ease that has impressed many.
Reflecting on a match he observed a year ago, Terry noted, “I watched him play against Chelsea, and I’ve not seen anyone glide past people like this man does, other than Messi.” He emphasized the significance of this comparison, stating, “That’s a big, big comparison, but this man is a proper talent and will play a big part in Arsenal’s future, and also England’s as well.” Terry concluded by labeling Dowman a “super, super talent.”
Dowman made his mark in the match against Everton, coming off the bench with 15 minutes left to play. He provided the assist for Viktor Gyökeres‘ opening goal and then scored the second himself. After Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford moved up for a last-minute corner, Dowman capitalized on the opportunity. He navigated past one defender and dribbled nearly the entire length of the pitch to score into an empty net.
This performance not only secured a vital win for Arsenal but also reaffirmed Dowman’s status as a player to watch. His rise in the Premier League has drawn attention from fans and analysts alike, with many eager to see how his career unfolds.
As Arsenal continues to lead the Premier League, Dowman’s contributions may prove crucial in their quest for the title. With endorsements from figures like Terry, the young talent is poised to become a significant force in both club and international football.
