In another, a 60-year-old man suffered poisoning after he acted on advice from ChatGPT suggesting he consume sodium bromide to decrease his salt intake.

The study underscores a critical issue in the intersection of technology and healthcare. Dr. Darren Lebl, research service chief of spine surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, has voiced concerns regarding the reliability of AI-generated medical advice. He noted that many recommendations provided by AI systems lack the backing of established scientific research, with approximately a quarter of them being fabricated.
