Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured that the upcoming Magh Mela in Prayagraj will be managed efficiently, focusing on cleanliness and crowd control. During a review meeting held on January 10, 2024, he emphasized the use of technology and enhanced coordination among various departments to facilitate a smooth experience for the millions of expected devotees.

The Chief Minister addressed the media in Prayagraj, highlighting that all major bathing rituals will occur without disruption, maintaining the sanctity of the event. He noted that administrative vigilance and the integration of advanced communication systems are crucial for ensuring the safety and convenience of attendees.

In reflecting on last year’s preparations for the Maha Kumbh, which were similarly underway at this time, Adityanath expressed his personal commitment to overseeing the arrangements. He mentioned an anticipated influx of between 10 to 15 lakh devotees on Paush Purnima, while over 31 lakh participated in the holy dip at the Sangam during the previous year.

Enhanced Facilities and Safety Measures

The Chief Minister highlighted significant improvements to the ghats, which have been extended this year with a strong focus on maintaining cleanliness. To combat the severe winter cold, adequate measures have been implemented to protect devotees, ensuring their comfort during the festivities.

For effective crowd management, a public address system will be operational throughout the Mela area. Additionally, the government has launched the Mela Seva App, designed to give saints, Kalpvasis, and attendees easy access to essential services, including grievance redressal.

Adityanath described Prayagraj as a revered location, rich in history and spiritual significance, associated with renowned sages such as Maharshi Bharadwaj and Yajnavalkya. He also acknowledged his participation in events commemorating the 726th birth anniversary of Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Ji.

Upcoming Festivals and Events

Looking ahead, the Chief Minister outlined key bathing festivals scheduled during the Magh month, including Makar Sankranti on January 14-15, Mauni Amavasya on January 18, and Vasant Panchami on January 23. Other important occasions include Magh Purnima and Mahashivratri on February 15. He reiterated that comprehensive preparations are in place across all departments to ensure the successful execution of these events.

With the combination of improved facilities, technology-driven governance, and a strong emphasis on safety and cleanliness, the government aims to provide a welcoming and sacred environment for all participants during this significant spiritual gathering.
