Tragic Murder of Delhi Police Commando by Husband Shocks Community
A tragic incident in West Delhi has resulted in the death of Kajal, a 27-year-old commando with the Delhi Police, allegedly at the hands of her husband, Ankur. The couple’s love story, which began in college in Haryana, ended violently, culminating in Kajal being brutally assaulted in their home.
According to reports, the violence escalated after a phone call between Nikhil, Kajal’s elder brother, and Ankur. Nikhil recounted that Ankur contacted him, urging him to speak with Kajal about their issues. During the call, Kajal began to reveal her struggles, but the situation quickly deteriorated. Nikhil described hearing his sister screaming before the line abruptly disconnected. He received another call shortly after, instructing him to go to the hospital.
Upon arriving, Nikhil found his sister in critical condition. “Seeing my sister in that state was unbearable,” he said. Kajal had suffered severe head injuries and multiple wounds. Despite the family’s efforts to secure medical attention, she was only admitted to a hospital in Ghaziabad after significant delays. Tragically, she passed away on March 2023 while on life support.
Ankur, who works as a clerk with the Ministry of Defence, was arrested on the day of the incident. Initially charged with attempted murder, the police indicated that the charges would be upgraded to murder following Kajal’s death. Investigators are exploring allegations of sustained mental and physical harassment, including dowry demands, which the family claims intensified despite the couple’s love marriage.
The couple, who married in 2023 and have a one-and-a-half-year-old son, faced escalating tensions that family members attribute to financial stress and ongoing disputes. Kajal’s father, Rakesh, detailed how the family provided a motorcycle, gold jewellery, and cash during the wedding, yet they continued to face harassment. He expressed his anguish, stating, “My daughter suffered a lot. I want justice.”
Nikhil also recalled a previous incident from five months ago when Kajal was allegedly slapped by Ankur. He encouraged her to leave the relationship, but Ankur apologized and promised it would not happen again. Family members reported that Kajal was made to perform household chores even during her pregnancy while balancing her demanding job.
According to investigators, during the assault, Kajal was initially slammed against a door frame before being attacked with a dumbbell. A formal complaint has been filed at the Mohan Garden police station, and the investigation is ongoing.
This shocking incident not only highlights the serious issue of domestic violence but also raises concerns about the societal pressures surrounding marriage and dowry in India. As the family seeks justice, the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event.
