Karnataka Bank Celebrates 102nd Founders’ Day with Insightful Lecture
Karnataka Bank marked its 102nd Founders’ Day with a significant event at its head office auditorium in Mangaluru on February 18, 2024. The celebration featured a keynote lecture by renowned retired IAS officer Debasish Panda, who shared insights on the theme “Enhanced Role of Financial Services: Viksit Bharat 2047.”
The gathering was presided over by P Pradeep Kumar, chairman of Karnataka Bank, alongside managing director and CEO Raghavendra S Bhat, board members, and senior executives. The event commenced with an invocation, followed by floral tributes to the bank’s founder directors and the ceremonial lighting of a lamp.
Insights on Financial Transformation
During his lecture, Panda emphasized the pivotal role of financial institutions in driving India towards becoming a developed nation by the year 2047. He highlighted the importance of robust financial inclusion, technological innovation, and responsible banking practices as essential components for supporting sustainable economic growth.
In his presidential address, P Pradeep Kumar underscored the bank’s ongoing efforts in digital transformation. He noted that with the national economic growth rate projected at 7–8%, the banking sector must aim for growth rates nearly double that to remain competitive. Kumar affirmed that digital transformation is an ongoing process that necessitates continuous investment in both technology and human resources.
The chairman also recognized the significant contributions of former leader Srikesh Reddy, particularly his initiatives in enhancing agriculture lending, which have had a lasting impact on the community.
Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives
As part of its commitment to social responsibility, Karnataka Bank announced support for various initiatives, including partnerships with Samskritha Bharathi in Delhi, the Rotary Club in Chennai, and B M Ramakrishna Hathwar Government High School in Beejadi, Kundapura taluk. These initiatives reflect the bank’s dedication to contributing positively to society.
Additionally, the event saw the formal release of the English version of a Kannada book on KSN Adiga, further celebrating the bank’s cultural engagement.
The celebration concluded with an inspiring performance by an all-women classical music ensemble, featuring talented artists such as vidushi Manasi Prasad (vocal), vidushi Sukanya Ramgopal (ghatam tarang), and others showcasing their skills on various instruments.
Karnataka Bank’s Founders’ Day celebration not only commemorated its rich history but also set a forward-looking agenda for the future, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to innovation and social responsibility.
