USA Bowler Isani Vaghela Suspended for Illegal Bowling Action
Isani Vaghela, a seam bowler representing the United States, has been suspended from bowling in international cricket due to an illegal bowling action. The suspension was enacted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following a review by its Event Panel, which identified issues with Vaghela’s technique during a recent match.
The decision came after match officials submitted a report regarding Vaghela’s performance in a game against Ireland during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026, held in Nepal. The ICC’s Event Panel analyzed video footage of her bowling action in subsequent matches, confirming that her technique violated the regulations outlined in Article 6.7.
Vaghela’s suspension prohibits her from bowling until she undergoes a re-assessment of her action and receives clearance to bowl legally. This clause is essential for ensuring fair play and maintaining the integrity of the sport.
In the match against Ireland, which the United States lost by 16 runs, Vaghela struggled to make an impact. She ended the game without taking any wickets, conceding a total of 41 runs in just four overs. On the batting front, she contributed a modest 5 runs off 5 balls, reflecting a challenging outing for the player and her team.
The ICC’s stringent measures highlight its commitment to upholding the standards of cricket globally. The governing body takes the integrity of players’ actions seriously, ensuring that all bowlers adhere to the established rules to maintain a level playing field.
As Isani Vaghela navigates this setback, the focus now shifts to her potential re-assessment and the steps she will take to rectify her bowling technique. The cricketing community will be watching closely, eager to see how this situation unfolds and impacts her future in the sport.
