Thermo Fisher Unveils Bioprocess Design Center in Hyderabad
Thermo Fisher Scientific has officially opened two new facilities in Hyderabad’s Genome Valley, marking a significant milestone in bioprocess development in India. The newly established Bioprocess Design Center (BDC) is a technology scale-up facility created in collaboration with the Government of Telangana and the Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science & Technology.
The Bioprocess Design Center serves as a collaborative hub for scientists, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals, offering hands-on training and co-development opportunities. This facility showcases over 50 integrated workflows across more than 20 applications, focusing on targeted therapeutics such as cell and gene therapy, mRNA, oncology, proteomics, and analytical sciences. The center prominently features Thermo Fisher’s flagship technologies, solidifying its role in advancing scientific innovation.
With a combined investment ranging between Rs85-90 crore in both the Collaborative Experience Center (CEC) and BDC, Thermo Fisher continues to reinforce its commitment to the Indian market. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to enhance its growing presence in India’s biotechnology sector, which has garnered international attention for its potential in health care and pharmaceuticals.
The establishment of the BDC aligns with the goals of the Biotech Park Project, which aims to foster innovation and collaboration within the biotechnology industry. The facility is expected to play a vital role in nurturing local talent and supporting the development of new therapies that address pressing health challenges.
As Thermo Fisher Scientific continues to invest in India’s biotechnology landscape, the opening of the Bioprocess Design Center signifies a noteworthy step towards enhancing research capabilities and promoting innovation in targeted therapeutics. This initiative not only strengthens partnerships between government and industry but also underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in driving advancements in health care.
