NSIL Partners with GalaxEye to Resell Innovative OptoSAR Data
New Space India Limited (NSIL) has entered into a significant partnership with Bengaluru-based startup GalaxEye to serve as a global vendor for its innovative ‘Syncfused’ Optical+Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. This agreement marks a pivotal moment in India’s burgeoning space sector, allowing NSIL to resell GalaxEye’s entire product portfolio worldwide.
As part of this collaboration, GalaxEye intends to launch a constellation of 10 satellites, with the first Drishti satellite scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2026. The SyncFused technology developed by GalaxEye merges optical and SAR observations, providing actionable intelligence for various applications, including agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure planning, and environmental monitoring.
The integration of optical and SAR data enhances capabilities significantly. While SAR observations can penetrate cloud cover and operate under all weather conditions, they present challenges for AI labeling. In contrast, optical data is easier for AI systems to analyze. The SyncFused technology overcomes these hurdles, improving resolution and enhancing compatibility with AI applications.
This partnership is notable as it represents the first formal collaboration between a private Indian satellite operator and NSIL under a data reseller agreement. GalaxEye, which was incubated at IIT Madras, specializes in indigenous multisensory payloads designed to operate across a range of altitudes, including drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and high-altitude pseudo satellites (HAPS).
Advancing India’s Space Economy
Suyash Singh, co-founder and CEO of GalaxEye, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “The collaboration with NSIL is a strong validation that the Indian New Space economy is finally ready for commercialization at scale. This allows us to bring advanced Earth observation capabilities to a wider set of users while contributing to India’s strategic and developmental priorities.”
Shri M Mohan, Chairman and Managing Director of NSIL, emphasized the importance of this agreement in promoting GalaxEye’s opto-SAR products and services on a global scale. He remarked, “This collaboration is an example of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative to promote Indian space products and services internationally.”
As the Indian space sector continues to evolve, this partnership highlights the increasing role of private companies in contributing to national and global objectives in Earth observation and data analytics. The launch of the Drishti satellite and subsequent satellites will position GalaxEye as a key player in the international space industry, underscoring India’s growing capabilities in satellite technology and data services.
In summary, the alliance between NSIL and GalaxEye represents a significant step forward for India’s space industry, fostering innovation and expanding access to advanced Earth observation technologies.
