Central University of Kashmir Hosts Workshop on Academic Profiles
The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) conducted a workshop focused on “Academic Profile Management and Research Visibility” for its faculty on November 9, 2023. The event took place at the university’s Green Campus, gathering key academic figures, including Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, Registrar, and distinguished faculty members from various departments.
Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat, the University’s Librarian, emphasized the necessity of such workshops. He stated that developing robust and credible digital academic identities is vital. This initiative aims to enhance the visibility of the university’s academic and research contributions on both national and international platforms.
By equipping faculty with the knowledge to manage their academic profiles on esteemed platforms such as ORCID, Google Scholar, and Web of Science Researcher ID, the workshop seeks to improve overall research visibility. Dr. Bhat noted, “This series of workshops will enable our faculty to effectively present their scholarly work.”
In discussions following the workshop, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir revealed that several areas for enhancement in the university’s research environment were identified. These discussions, which involved the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, led to the decision to organize a series of faculty orientation sessions. Dr. Mir expressed optimism regarding the university’s research output, stating, “I am hopeful that publications and research will be recognized at national and international levels.”
Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Dean of the School of Legal Studies, highlighted the intrinsic link between teaching and research. He remarked, “While teaching is at the heart of academia, it is research that truly shapes a university’s identity.” He urged faculty members to engage in quality research, reinforcing the notion that a university is defined by its research excellence.
The workshop represents a significant step for CUK in fostering a culture of academic achievement and visibility. By prioritizing research and equipping educators with essential tools, the university aims to enhance its reputation and impact on a global scale.
As the landscape of higher education evolves, initiatives like these are crucial for ensuring that academic institutions remain relevant and competitive. The Central University of Kashmir is positioning itself to lead in this regard, paving the way for future collaborations and advancements in research visibility.
