St Aloysius University Celebrates Golden Reunion for Alumni
St Aloysius University in Mangaluru hosted a Golden Reunion and Convocation Ceremony on January 11, 2024, celebrating the 50-year milestones of its alumni from the 1974, 1975, and 1976 batches. This significant event, organized in collaboration with the St Aloysius Alumni Association, highlighted the enduring connection between the institution and its former students.
Event Highlights and Ceremonial Proceedings
The day began with a ceremonial flag hoisting near the Admin Block, setting a reflective tone for the gathering. Alumni enjoyed a communal breakfast at Sahodaya Hall, allowing them to reminisce and reconnect before the formalities commenced. The programme was guided by Dr Severine Pinto and Abhishek Shetty, who served as masters of ceremony.
Sunil Kunder K, chairman of the Golden Reunion 2026, welcomed the attendees and expressed pride in their lifelong achievements. He emphasized the significance of returning to their alma mater. The keynote address was delivered by Ivan D Frank, a member of the 1976 commerce batch, who reflected on the values imparted by the institution and its evolution over the decades.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr B Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, vice president of ISR at Nitte University, as the guest of honour. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, vice chancellor of St Aloysius University, presided over the ceremony, further underscoring the occasion’s importance.
Honouring Distinguished Alumni
A highlight of the ceremony was the formal recognition of 45 distinguished alumni from the classes of 1974, 1975, and 1976, along with representatives from the 1970 SSC and 1971 PUC batches. Additionally, three retired teachers and a former librarian from the 1975 and 1976 eras were acknowledged for their contributions. Each honoree was celebrated for their journey over the past half-century, marking a significant chapter in the university’s history.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr Dinesh Nayak, the convener, who expressed appreciation to the management, the organizing committee, and the alumni for their participation, which contributed to the reunion’s success. The presence of Dr Ronald Nazareth, the university’s registrar, along with other dignitaries, added to the significance of this memorable occasion.
This Golden Reunion not only commemorated the past but also reinforced the bonds among alumni, celebrating their shared experiences and the lasting impact of their time at St Aloysius University.
