The Christmas celebration at Lourdes Central School in Mangaluru took place on December 23, 2025, at 08:00. The event featured a blend of cultural performances, including dance and music, which set a festive tone for the occasion. Dignitaries present included Dr J B Saldanha, manager of Lourdes Central School, and chief guest Fr Vishwas Misquith SJ, finance officer of St Aloysius University.
Cultural Performances Highlight the Day
The program commenced with a warm welcome to the guests, followed by readings from the scriptures that invoked blessings for the gathering. Students performed a graceful dance to enhance the spiritual atmosphere, while a dance drama illustrated the significance of Christmas. The lively choir and the Jingle Bell dancers added vibrancy to the stage.
As the celebrations progressed, awards were distributed to winners of various competitions held during the Christmas week. Additionally, the fourth edition of the school’s E-Magazine, themed “Learning Beyond Boundaries,” was inaugurated. Fr Arul Joseph introduced Fr Vishwas Misquith SJ, who was honoured by the dignitaries for his contributions.
Messages of Generosity and Community Spirit
In his address, Fr Vishwas Misquith SJ emphasized the essence of Christmas as a time for giving and sharing. He spoke of God’s love for humanity, likening it to the life-giving waters of the Sea of Galilee, and encouraged attendees to be channels of generosity. Meanwhile, Dr J B Saldanha reinforced the idea of being a guiding light for others, urging individuals to brighten lives through acts of love.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and a surprise visit from Santa Claus, delighting the audience with his performance. Acknowledgments were extended to the students from classes 6 AB and their teachers for their efforts in organizing a remarkable showcase of talent.
In the lead-up to Christmas, Lourdes Central School organized several activities from December 15 to 23, 2025, under the theme “Experiencing the Divine in Every Act of Love.” These events aimed to instill values of kindness, peace, joy, generosity, and humility among students.
The Christmas week began with class 11C inaugurating a celebration focused on the theme of the Angel and the Annunciation of Mother Mary, highlighting divine intervention in human life. Subsequent activities included competitions for younger students, such as candle making, card crafting, and decorating Christmas trees, engaging children from grades one to five actively.
On December 20, an outreach program saw approximately 160 students from grades 7A to 7D visiting St Antony Ashram and White Doves in Kulshekar. Here, students shared their talents through singing, dancing, and acting, while spreading joy to those less fortunate. This experience reinforced the core values of Christmas, emphasizing love, sharing, and caring.
