Dharmendra Pradhan Leads Tricolour March in Sambalpur to Honor Martyrs

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan led a significant tricolour march in Kudopali, located in the Sambalpur district of Odisha, on Sunday. This event was held in anticipation of Saheed Diwas, a day dedicated to commemorating the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, which will be observed on March 18.

In a show of respect and remembrance, Pradhan inaugurated a commemorative gateway at Sindurpank Square on National Highway 53, which connects Kolkata and Mumbai. This gateway honors Veer Chhabila Sai, a local freedom fighter, along with 56 other martyrs who fought against British colonial rule. The structure is adorned with symbolic elements including a flaming torch, the Ashoka Chakra, and traditional Sambalpuri Ikat motifs, representing sacrifice, courage, and the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Following the inauguration, the march commenced from Shaheed Kudopali Primary School and proceeded to the Shaheed Smruti battlefield site. During the event, Pradhan paid floral tributes at the Kudopali Martyrs’ Pillar, further emphasizing the importance of remembering those who laid down their lives for the nation.

This event not only served as a tribute to the martyrs but also aimed to foster a sense of patriotism among the local community. As part of the commemorative activities, participants were encouraged to reflect on the sacrifices made for India’s independence and the ongoing pursuit of national integrity.
