The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) commemorated the birthday of its leader and former Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, on March 5, 2024, with a series of community-focused events across Khammam and Kothagudem districts. The celebrations included blood donation camps, welfare initiatives, and various special activities aimed at promoting social welfare and recognizing Rao’s contributions to the formation and development of Telangana.

At the heart of the festivities was a gathering at Telangana Bhavan in Khammam, where BRS district president Tata Madhusudhan and former MLAs Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and Banothu Chandravathi marked the occasion by cutting a celebratory cake. Their spirited cheers of “Jai KCR – Jai Telangana” resonated among the attendees, reflecting the party’s enthusiasm and unity.

A significant highlight of the day was a large blood donation camp, where MLC Madhusudhan himself donated blood, inspiring numerous activists to participate in this noble cause. Additionally, a cake was ceremoniously cut by senior citizens at an old age home in NSP camp, where fruits were distributed, and a traditional meal, known as ‘annadanam’, was provided.

In his address, MLC Madhusudhan lauded K Chandrashekhar Rao as a visionary leader whose efforts were instrumental in realizing Telangana’s statehood. He emphasized that Rao’s welfare programs for farmers and the underprivileged had set a benchmark for other regions in the country.

Festivities Expand Across Kothagudem

The celebrations extended to Kothagudem, where senior BRS leader Dindigala Rajender marked Rao’s 72nd birthday by cutting a remarkable 72-kilogram cake. In a symbolic gesture, Rajender also broke 72 coconuts at a local Shiva temple, honoring the sacrifices made by Rao for the creation of Telangana. He expressed that the formation of the state was a direct result of Rao’s dedication and personal risk.

In Kothagudem, the festivities were led by former chairperson of Kothagudem Municipality, Kapu Seetha Lakshmi. She, along with former minister Vanama Venkateshwar Rao, participated in the celebrations, which included another cake-cutting ceremony in the presence of local activists. As part of the day’s events, Seetha Lakshmi planted a sapling at Telangana Bhavan, symbolizing growth and a commitment to environmental sustainability.

The BRS’s celebrations of K Chandrashekhar Rao highlight the party’s ongoing efforts to engage with the community and reinforce its commitment to social welfare and development initiatives in Telangana.
