Arnav Gautam Tops JEE Main 2026 with Perfect Score of 100 Percentile
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the results for the JEE Main 2026 Session 1, revealing that 12 candidates achieved a perfect score of 100 percentile. Among these high achievers is Arnav Gautam, a student from Rajasthan, who accomplished this remarkable feat on his very first attempt at the competitive engineering entrance examination.
Arnav Gautam scored 295 out of 300 marks in the January session of JEE Main 2026, placing him among the highest performers nationwide. His exceptional performance has garnered attention not only for the perfect percentile but also for the disciplined approach he employed throughout his preparation.
Academic Background and Preparation Strategy
Despite his parents’ backgrounds in the humanities, Arnav developed a passion for engineering during his school years. He focused on science and mathematics and dedicated himself to preparing for competitive examinations from a young age. As he simultaneously prepares for his Class 12 board examinations, which began on February 17, 2026, his commitment to academics remains evident.
Arnav’s mother shared insights into his study routine, highlighting his structured daily schedule and reliance on coaching materials. He attended a coaching institute in Rajasthan, where he utilized the notes provided but primarily managed his own study planning. Balancing a rigorous academic routine, Arnav also prioritized his physical and mental well-being by engaging in cricket with his younger brother after long coaching sessions.
Exam Strategy and Future Aspirations
Arnav attributes his success to effective time management and a strategic approach during the examination. He started with the Chemistry section, followed by Physics, and tackled Mathematics last. This method allowed him to finish the exam ahead of time, enabling him to review all sections and correct any minor errors before submission.
Looking ahead, Arnav Gautam aims to pursue a degree in Computer Science at IIT Bombay and is currently preparing for the JEE Advanced 2026. In addition to his JEE efforts, he has represented India in various science Olympiads, including the Junior Science Olympiad and the Asian Physics Olympiad, where he won a bronze medal in 2025. With a solid academic foundation and clear objectives, Arnav is set to embark on the next phase of his engineering journey.
The JEE Main results have sparked celebration among top scorers and their families, with Arnav’s achievement serving as an inspiration for aspiring engineers. His story underscores the importance of dedication, strategy, and balance in achieving academic excellence.
