‘Black Warrant’ Triumphs at Filmfare OTT Awards 2025 in Mumbai
The sixth edition of the Filmfare OTT Awards took place in Mumbai on March 10, 2025, celebrating exceptional talent and storytelling within India’s burgeoning digital entertainment landscape. The night was marked by significant wins, particularly for the series Black Warrant, which claimed the prestigious title of Best Series, with Vikramaditya Motwane recognized as Best Director (Series).
In the realm of web original films, Shuchi Talati received the award for Best Director for her work on Girls Will Be Girls, which also won the Best Film accolade. The competitive atmosphere was palpable, especially in the acting categories. Sanya Malhotra and Abhishek Banerjee were both honored with the Best Actor awards for their performances in Mrs. and Stolen, respectively.
Banerjee’s portrayal in Stolen faced stiff competition, including strong performances from notable actors such as Abhishek Bachchan for Kaalidhar Laapata, Ishwak Singh in Berlin, and Manoj Bajpayee for Despatch. His victory highlights the increasing recognition of diverse talent in the industry.
Notable Performances Shine
In the Series-Drama category, Jaideep Ahlawat took home the Best Actor award for his role in Paatal Lok Season 2. The Comedy category also saw impressive performances, with Barun Sobti winning for Raat Jawaan Hai and Sparsh Shrivastava recognized for Dupahiya.
Malhotra’s achievement in the Best Actor, Web Original Film (Female) category was particularly notable. Competing against a talented lineup, including Ananya Panday for Ctrl and Taapsee Pannu for Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, her win underscores her growing prominence in the industry.
The Best Actress (Series-Drama) award went to Monika Panwar for her performance in Khauf, while Panday also secured the Series-Comedy trophy for her role in Call Me Bae.
The Filmfare OTT Awards continue to highlight the dynamic and evolving nature of India’s digital entertainment, showcasing an array of talent that resonates with audiences globally. As the industry expands, these awards serve as a testament to the creativity and dedication of those involved in storytelling across various platforms.
