‘Black Warrant’ Dominates Filmfare OTT Awards 2025 with Major Wins
The sixth edition of the Filmfare OTT Awards took place on March 3, 2025, in Mumbai, celebrating exceptional achievements in India’s expanding digital entertainment sector. The ceremony recognized outstanding storytelling and performances across various categories, with Black Warrant emerging as a standout winner. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the series took home the prestigious title of Best Series.
In addition to the series accolade, Motwane received the award for Best Director (Series). The competition was fierce, but the series was clearly a favorite among the judges. Meanwhile, Shuchi Talati earned the title of Best Director (Web Original Film) for her work on Girls Will Be Girls, which also won the Best Film award.
Recognition for acting was equally impressive, with Sanya Malhotra and Abhishek Banerjee being honored with the Best Actor awards in their respective categories. Malhotra’s performance in Mrs. stood out, while Banerjee’s role in Stolen was celebrated despite tough competition from notable actors including Abhishek Bachchan (Kaalidhar Laapata), Ishwak Singh (Berlin), and Manoj Bajpayee (Despatch).
The Best Actor (Series-Drama) award went to Jaideep Ahlawat for his performance in Paatal Lok Season 2. In the comedy categories, Barun Sobti claimed victory for Raat Jawaan Hai, while Sparsh Shrivastava was recognized for his role in Dupahiya.
Malhotra’s achievement in the Best Actor, Web Original Film (Female) category was noteworthy, as she faced strong contenders like Ananya Panday (Ctrl), Kriti Sanon (Do Patti), Preeti Panigrahi (Girls Will Be Girls), Sheeba Chadha (Kaushalji vs Kaushal), Taapsee Pannu (Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba), and Yami Gautam (Dhoom Dhaam).
In the drama series category, Monika Panwar took home the Best Actress (Series-Drama) award for her role in Khauf. Additionally, Ananya Panday received the Series-Comedy trophy for her performance in Call Me Bae.
The Filmfare OTT Awards continue to highlight the growth and creativity within India’s digital entertainment landscape, showcasing a diverse range of talent and storytelling that resonates with audiences both locally and internationally.
