Karan Johar Aims to Expand Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla into Franchise
Karan Johar is reportedly planning to transform Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film, Naagzilla, into a franchise. This move comes as Aaryan, a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, has signed a multi-film deal with Johar. The anticipation for Naagzilla is building as fans eagerly await its release on August 14, 2026.
According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, Johar envisions extending Aaryan’s character into a full-fledged series. A source cited by the entertainment portal stated, “As soon as the first Naagzilla film is launched, the pre-production for the next film in the series will start. Kartik will be the only constant in the series. The rest of the cast and crew will change in every installment.”
While details surrounding the film’s plot remain limited, Aaryan will portray Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, an Ichadaari Naag. The first look of Aaryan in this role was revealed in April 2023, alongside a motion poster shared by Karan Johar, who expressed excitement about introducing a new fantasy narrative to audiences.
The film promises to be a unique blend of fantasy and folklore, aimed at delivering a distinctive entertainment experience. Alongside Johar, producers include Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Sujit Jain.
As anticipation grows, Aaryan is also set to release another film, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera, further solidifying his collaboration with Johar’s production company. The filmmaker is expected to announce additional projects soon, expanding his portfolio further in the highly competitive Bollywood landscape.
With the franchise model taking off in various entertainment industries, Karan Johar’s strategy to leverage Aaryan’s character could position Naagzilla as a significant addition to Indian cinema. The focus on creating a series around a single character could not only attract Aaryan’s existing fan base but also invite new audiences to explore this imaginative world.
