Director Maneesh F Singh has confirmed that filming for the highly anticipated movie, “Who Killed Shraddha?”, is set to commence soon. The project, which has garnered significant attention due to its inspiration from the Shraddha Walkar murder case, will star Kaseesshree Khandelwal, a 24-year-old actress from Mumbai, in the lead role.

The film’s production faced delays after initial shooting took place in 2023. According to Singh, the postponement was necessary because the legal proceedings surrounding the case were still in their early stages. He explained, “The trial had not started. The investigation was at an early stage. The police were not ready to share any official information as the charge-sheet had not yet been filed in the court.” Concerns regarding privacy rights from both the victim’s and the accused’s families further complicated matters, causing the director to halt production.

Singh added that he had already invested more than Rs 2 crore into the project before the delays occurred. Now, with clearer circumstances surrounding the case, he is eager to move forward. “I had decided to do the film, the script and pre-production work was ready, but we could not proceed because of legal hassles. Now things are more clear and we are going ahead with the shoot,” he stated.

Key Roles and Casting Details

In addition to Khandelwal’s portrayal of Shraddha Walkar, the film will feature another female lead who plays a TV journalist serving as the story’s narrator. Another actress will portray Aftab’s second girlfriend, a character who becomes involved with him through a dating website while he was living with Walkar. Singh emphasized that each of these roles is significant within the narrative, creating a multi-faceted exploration of the events surrounding the case.

While Singh has not disclosed the actor who will portray Aftab, the boyfriend accused of murdering Walkar and dismembering her body, he remains committed to portraying the story with sensitivity and depth. The film aims to highlight the tragic circumstances of Walkar’s death while navigating the complexities of the ongoing investigation.

As the film transitions from pre-production to active filming, audiences are keen to see how the story unfolds on-screen. The production team is focused on delivering a compelling narrative that honors the gravity of the case while also engaging viewers with a thoughtful and artistic approach.

With a clear plan in place, Singh and his team are poised to bring “Who Killed Shraddha?” to life, shedding light on a story that continues to resonate in public discourse.
