Vizag Airport Achieves 81.52% Flight Punctuality Rate

The punctuality of flights at Visakhapatnam International Airport has reached an impressive 81.52% for the first 11 months of 2023. This figure, known as the “On Time Performance” (OTP), indicates the reliability of flights departing and arriving at the airport. According to Rajendra Prasad Lanka, the Officiating Airport Director and Joint General Manager, the overall delay percentage stands at 18.46%.

Domestic Flight Operations Stand Out

In the domestic sector, IndiGo led the way with the highest volume of flight movements, totaling 13,550 flights. The airline recorded an OTP of 83.98%, signifying its strong performance in maintaining flight schedules. Air India followed with 2,058 flights but reported a lower OTP of 69.97%. Meanwhile, Air India Express operated 2,970 flights with an OTP of 78.79%. Notably, India One Air achieved the highest OTP in the domestic sector at 90.86%, with a total of 558 flight movements.

International Flight Performance

International operations also showed varied results. Scoot, which connects Vizag to Singapore, managed 380 flight movements, achieving an OTP of 67.63%. In contrast, IndiGo on the Vizag to Abu Dhabi route completed 274 flights, securing an OTP of 77.74%.

Mr. Rajendra Prasad noted that the month of December is not included in these statistics as it is still ongoing. The data reflects a significant emphasis on improving flight schedules at Visakhapatnam International Airport, benefiting both passengers and airlines operating in the region. With these figures, the airport demonstrates its commitment to enhancing travel experiences through improved punctuality.
