In Adilabad on March 15, 2024, newly elected sarpanches were celebrated at separate events organized by the Congress Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao participated in the Congress event, emphasizing the importance of village development as a cornerstone for the state’s progress. He urged the newly elected leaders to actively engage with their gram panchayats and work towards achieving Gram Swarajya, a vision aimed at empowering local governance.

During his address, Krishna Rao assured the sarpanches that the state government would fulfill its election promises and emphasized the need for prioritizing basic amenities. He called on the elected representatives to transform their villages into model panchayats. Furthermore, he assured them that there would be no delays in releasing funds for development projects and stressed the importance of extending welfare and development schemes to every household.

At the BJP event, which was attended by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, the focus shifted to party unity and electoral strategy. Reddy encouraged party members and sarpanches to work collaboratively to secure additional seats in the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC). He reiterated the party’s commitment to the development of Adilabad district.

Krishna Rao also took the opportunity to address the agricultural challenges faced by local farmers. He requested Kishan Reddy to facilitate the procurement of distressed soybean produce through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) to provide much-needed relief to affected farmers.

Following the formal events, Krishna Rao shared a meal with the elected sarpanches, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among the local leaders. The gatherings also saw the presence of prominent Congress figures, including DCC President Naresh Jadhav, former MLA Atram Sakku, and former MP Soyam Bapurao, among other senior party leaders.

The dual celebrations in Adilabad showcased the political landscape of the region, highlighting the commitment of both parties to local governance and development. As newly elected sarpanches embark on their leadership roles, the expectations set forth by both the state government and political parties will play a crucial role in shaping the future of their communities.
