Karnataka Milk Federation Implements AI Cameras for Packing Efficiency
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has announced its plan to deploy AI-based cameras to enhance the monitoring and counting of milk and milk product crates during the packaging process. This initiative aims to improve operational efficiency and transparency across its facilities.
KMF recently issued a tender for the implementation of this advanced system, which is expected to significantly increase the accuracy and automation of crate management. According to the tender document, the new technology will address the challenges associated with tracking milk crates at various stages, including packing, loading, unloading, and dispatch. Accurate monitoring is crucial for operational efficiency, loss prevention, and effective inventory control.
Installation at Key Locations
The AI-based monitoring system will be rolled out at three main packing stations operated by the Bengaluru Co-operative Milk Producers’ Societies Union Limited (BAMUL), where the volume of packed products is substantial. At the primary packaging centre in Bengaluru, eight cameras will be installed, while two cameras each will be set up at the National Milk Packing Centre (NMPC) in Kanakapura and another packaging centre in Hoskote.
Senior officials from KMF indicated that the new system is designed to minimize manual intervention in the counting process. It will automatically detect, count, and record milk crates in real time. This transition is expected to reduce human errors and provide reliable data for reconciliation and auditing purposes.
Advanced Features and Benefits
The proposed solution will feature real-time video streaming analytics, enabling continuous tracking and monitoring of crates on the conveyors. Each conveyor will be equipped with a live crate counter display, along with configurable audio alerts to notify staff of operational changes.
The tender document outlines essential requirements for the system, including a comprehensive alert mechanism to identify and notify staff about count anomalies, area-based discrepancies, inactive conveyor conditions, and any human interference events. These features are anticipated to enhance overall operational productivity and ensure that KMF can maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in its packaging processes.
By integrating AI technology into its operations, KMF aims to set a new benchmark in the dairy industry, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and excellence in product management.
