Central Railway (CR) will conduct special traffic and power blocks on the UP and DOWN Main Lines between Panvel and Kalamboli during the night of January 25-26, 2024. The blocks are necessary to facilitate the launching of a 110-metre open web girder, weighing 1,500 metric tonnes, as part of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) project.

The operation will commence at 1:20 AM and conclude at 5:20 AM, lasting approximately four hours. Under this block, additional works will be undertaken, including the placement of a temporary steel girder for subway construction at kilometer 67/55–57 in Panvel.

In addition, girder-launching activities for a foot overbridge (FOB) at Panvel station will take place. Another traffic and power block will facilitate the de-launching of a dilapidated Chowk FOB located at kilometer 85/8–9 on the Panvel–Karjat section.

Impact on Train Services

The planned blocks will affect several train services. The 22193 Daund–Gwalior Express will be diverted via Karjat–Kalyan–Vasai Road. Meanwhile, the 20112 Madgaon–CSMT Konkan Kanya Express will be regulated at Somatane in Pune district from 3:52 AM to 5:20 AM.

Additionally, the 12134 Mangalore–CSMT Express will be regulated at Apta in Raigad district between 2:50 AM and 5:15 AM. The 11004 Sawantwadi Road–Dadar Tutari Express will face regulation at Jite from 4:14 AM to 5:10 AM. The 12620 Mangalore–LTT Mumbai Matsyaganda Express will be regulated at Pen from 4:32 AM to 5:05 AM.

Finally, the 10103 CSMT–Madgaon Mandovi Express will be rescheduled to depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 8:20 AM, and the 17317 Hubballi–Dadar Express is expected to experience delays of 15–20 minutes due to these regulations.

Central Railway has emphasized that these blocks are essential for maintaining infrastructure integrity and ensuring passenger safety. The organization appeals to passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and to bear with the railway administration during this period of inconvenience.

In a separate announcement, Central Railway indicated that a mega block will take place between Matunga and Mulund on its Harbour Line on Sunday, January 25, 2026. This operation will affect both the Main Line and the Harbour Line, leading to diversions, delays, and the suspension of some services, as part of ongoing engineering and maintenance work.
