Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a review of the Noida International Airport on November 2, 2023, marking his second visit in a month as the project nears completion. This inspection follows a series of successful clearances for essential infrastructure, including runway strength, safety zones, and operational taxiways.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security completed its final inspection on Tuesday, paving the way for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to issue the aerodrome licence. According to Shailendra Bhatia, the nodal officer for the Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), this licence is expected to be granted by November 30, 2023, marking a significant step toward the airport’s commissioning.

During his previous visit on October 25, Adityanath assessed various aspects of the airport, including the domestic terminal, security arrangements, and traffic management. He conducted both on-foot inspections and an aerial survey, urging officials to ensure no lapses occur as the project approaches its final phases.

Security Preparations Intensify

On the day of his review, Adityanath also inaugurated a private hospital in Sector 50, before proceeding to Ghaziabad and Delhi. In anticipation of his visit, security measures have been heightened across the region. District Magistrate Medha Roopam and Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh evaluated security protocols at the hospital on November 1, 2023.

In preparation for the chief minister’s visit, the Noida Authority took steps to improve key roadways leading to the hospital, especially through sectors 76 and 78. Workers were deployed in multiple shifts to repair potholes, repaint dividers, and tidy up central verges. An official overseeing the project stated, “The potholes on the route have been fixed, the central verge and dividers have been repainted with black and yellow paints, and tree branches and shrubs have been trimmed.”

Residents expressed surprise at the swift cleanup of a garbage mound that had lingered near the Mahagun Mezzeria in Sector 78 for nearly two years. Many had previously lodged complaints with the Noida Authority, but action was only taken as the CM’s visit approached. Amit Gupta, a resident of Sector 76, remarked, “We have been complaining for months to clear the garbage dump near the society, but nothing moved. On Wednesday, the spot was suddenly clean, right ahead of the CM’s visit.”

Subsequent Visits and Events

Following his engagement in Noida, Adityanath is scheduled to head to Ghaziabad to inaugurate the Tarun Sagaram Tirtha Temple. Ahead of this event, Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mander and Police Commissioner J Ravindra Gaur inspected the venue and directed officials to complete any pending work while ensuring effective inter-departmental coordination.

Authorities have implemented restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Over 1,000 police personnel, along with two battalions of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), will be deployed near the temple during the chief minister’s visit. Areas under the jurisdiction of police stations, including Muradnagar, Masuri, Wave City, Kavinagar, Indirapuram, Kaushambi, and Sahibabad, have been designated as temporary no-drone and red zones. A directive prohibits all drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and paragliders in these areas.

Traffic diversions for commercial vehicles will be enforced from 08:00 until the conclusion of the event, redirecting routes via Duhai, Palwal-Kundli, and Modinagar to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway or the DME-Bhojpur corridor.

As the Noida International Airport project approaches completion, the ongoing inspections and enhanced security measures reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring a successful launch of this significant infrastructure development.
