Delhi Court Sends Faridabad Man to NIA Custody in Bombing Case
A court in New Delhi has ordered the custody of a Faridabad resident, Soyab, for ten days as part of the ongoing investigation into the November 10 bombing at the Red Fort. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained Soyab for allegedly providing support to the bomber, Umar-un Nabi, prior to the attack. The arrest took place in Dhauj, a locality in Faridabad, Haryana, and was carried out under strict security measures.
The NIA presented Soyab before the Patiala House Court on November 26, where he was remanded into custody by Principal and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna. The court also addressed the case of another accused, Amir Rashid Ali, whose ten-day custodial remand is set to expire on November 27. The judge granted the NIA an additional seven days to interrogate Amir, as the agency continues to unravel the connections behind the bombing.
According to an official spokesperson for the NIA, Soyab is the seventh individual apprehended in this case, which is part of a broader investigation into a “white-collar” terror module uncovered by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The NIA’s ongoing efforts include pursuing various leads and conducting searches across multiple states in collaboration with local police agencies. This coordinated approach aims to identify and apprehend additional suspects linked to the tragic incident.
On November 20, the NIA had already taken custody of four individuals, including three doctors and a preacher, who were arrested following the blast. Those detained—Muzammil Ganaie, Adeel Rather, Shaheena Saeed, and Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay—were initially apprehended by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in relation to the investigation.
The NIA remains focused on uncovering the full extent of the network involved in this attack, as authorities work diligently to ensure justice and prevent future incidents of violence.
