Rajasthan Government Initiates Elevated Traffic Corridor Project
In an effort to address increasing traffic congestion in Jaipur, the Rajasthan government has approved plans for an elevated traffic corridor along the Dravyavati river. The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has greenlit the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for this initiative, aiming to enhance traffic management and infrastructure across the city.
This decision emerged from a recent meeting of the Project Works Committee, which was chaired by JDA Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan. The committee authorized an administrative and financial allocation of Rs 6 crore for the preparation of the DPR, underscoring the urgency to alleviate traffic pressure in Jaipur while also preparing for future demands.
Project Details and Financial Approvals
The proposed elevated corridor is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, thereby reducing congestion in the city. In addition to the corridor, the JDA has also approved Rs 16.67 crore for the construction of culverts at four locations along the Dravyavati river, facilitating smoother vehicular movement.
Furthermore, with a goal to enhance sports infrastructure in the region, an allocation of Rs 7.90 crore has been approved for the development of a modern sports complex adjacent to the river. The planning of land designated for a proposed outdoor stadium by the Rajasthan State Sports Council in the Jaisinghpura Khor area has also received official approval.
The implementation of these projects is anticipated to bolster Jaipur’s traffic system and infrastructure. Commissioner Mahajan emphasized that these initiatives would contribute to the city’s planned and sustainable development. By enhancing both transportation and sports facilities, the Rajasthan government aims to provide a comprehensive approach to urban development, ensuring that the city can accommodate its growing population and economic needs effectively.
As these plans progress, they signal a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents of Jaipur while addressing critical infrastructural challenges faced by the city. The Rajasthan government continues to prioritize development projects that not only aim to alleviate current issues but also lay the groundwork for future growth.
