Macron to Discuss Ukraine’s Crisis with Zelensky and Leaders

French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders from the United Kingdom and Germany on March 25, 2024, to address ongoing tensions in Ukraine. This meeting follows recent strikes targeting Ukraine’s energy and rail infrastructure, which Macron condemned “in the strongest possible terms.”

During a statement on social media platform X, Macron emphasized, “Ukraine can count on our unwavering support. That is the whole point of the efforts we have undertaken as part of the Coalition of the Willing.” He reaffirmed France’s commitment to providing security guarantees to Ukraine, arguing that such measures are essential for achieving a robust and lasting peace. Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the IAEA, noted that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant temporarily lost all off-site power during the recent strikes.

Macron expressed concern over Russia’s actions, stating, “Russia is locked into an escalatory approach and is not seeking peace.” He called for continued pressure on Russia to facilitate a resolution to the conflict.
