Officials, including former Minister of State Aseem Goel and Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer, engaged with residents of Bhanokheri on the evening of October 5, 2023, during a night halt program aimed at addressing public grievances. The initiative allowed community members to voice their concerns directly to local authorities, with a commitment to resolving issues promptly.

During the event, approximately 25 complaints were recorded at the community centre. Residents raised various concerns, including a request from Gurdarshan Singh for a battery-operated tricycle, and Vinod Kumar highlighted the need for improvements to the drinking water pipeline. Other issues included the relocation of an electricity pole, construction of a street, and the establishment of a garbage dumping ground. Additionally, residents sought assistance with family identification, ration cards, property mutation, and road construction from Behbalpur to Bhanokheri. A group of local youths also requested a volleyball kit.

Aseem Goel assured attendees that their issues would receive priority attention. He emphasized that the program was part of a broader initiative directed by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, which aims to facilitate access to government officials in rural areas. Goel stated, “The Chief Minister is easily accessible and anyone can approach him without hesitation. He has been listening to the complaints even at nights.”

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer reiterated the program’s objectives, stating that it allows administrative officers to engage directly with villagers to address grievances effectively. He noted the importance of these night halt sessions in fostering community relations and enhancing local governance.

In addition to the night halt program, Samadhan shivirs are conducted at the district and block levels every Monday and Thursday, providing further opportunities for residents to resolve their issues. During the event, various government departments set up stalls to inform residents about available schemes and benefits. Both Aseem Goel and Ajay Singh Tomer visited the stalls, inquiring about the assistance being offered to the community.

Earlier in the day, representatives from the Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Seva Society, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Seva Society, and members of the Sikh community, including TP Singh, former executive member of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, met with Aseem Goel. They expressed their gratitude for the decision to rename the government polytechnic institute in Ambala after Guru Tegh Bahadur, highlighting the significance of this honor for the community.

The night halt program in Bhanokheri exemplifies the government’s commitment to addressing local issues and ensuring that residents have a direct line to their representatives. By facilitating these conversations, officials aim to create a more responsive and transparent governance model that prioritizes the needs of the community.
