Chief Justice Surya Kant Visits Tirumala Temple for Prayers

Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, visited the renowned Tirumala Temple on March 11, 2024, to offer prayers to Lord Venkateswara Swamy. He was accompanied by his family and a group of judges from various courts across India, including Dhiraj Singh Thakur, the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Upon his arrival at the temple’s Mahadwaram, the Chief Justice received a warm welcome from officials including B. R. Naidu, chairman of the TTD Trust Board, and M. Ravi Chandra, the Executive Officer. Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary was also present to greet him.

The temple priests performed a traditional welcome ceremony, which included the presentation of Isthikaphal, Mela Talam, and Vedic chants, creating an atmosphere of reverence and spirituality. Following the darshan, priests honored the Chief Justice with a Shesha Vastram, symbolizing respect and admiration. At the Ranganayakula Mandapam, Vedic scholars conducted the Vedaseervachanam, further enriching the experience with sacred chants.

In a gesture of appreciation, the TTD chairman and the Executive Officer presented the Chief Justice with Theertha prasadam and a laminated photograph of the deity, reinforcing the significance of the visit. Earlier that day, Justice Kant also offered prayers at the Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple, demonstrating his commitment to spiritual practices alongside his judicial responsibilities.

This visit not only reflects the personal devotion of Chief Justice Surya Kant but also highlights the cultural importance of the Tirumala Temple, a revered pilgrimage site for millions.
