Andhra Pradesh Budget Session Opens with Governor’s Address

The Budget Session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature commenced on February 11, 2026, with an address from Governor S. Abdul Nazeer. The session began amidst vocal protests from members of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), who criticized the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, labeling it a “kingdom of thieves.”

Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the former chief minister and leader of the YSRCP, made a notable return to the Assembly after nearly a year, with his last appearance recorded on February 24, 2025. His presence was significant, as it marked his re-engagement in legislative activities during a crucial budgetary period.

Following the Governor’s address, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee is scheduled for 11:30 AM to finalize the legislative agenda and determine the number of sitting days for the session. The Assembly is expected to convene for approximately 20 days, during which several important legislative and administrative matters will be addressed.

The budget session is set to run until March 12, 2026. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav is anticipated to present the State Budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 on February 14.
