In a commanding bowling display, India restricted New Zealand to a total of 153 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the third T20 International match held in Guwahati on September 24, 2023. Jasprit Bumrah led the charge with impressive figures of 3 for 17, while Hardik Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi contributed with two wickets each. New Zealand Struggles After Early Setbacks

Winning the toss, India opted to field first, a decision that quickly paid dividends. Fast bowler Harshit Rana struck early, dismissing Devon Conway for just 1 run in the opening over. Hardik Pandya followed suit, removing Rachin Ravindra for a mere four runs, thrusting the New Zealand batting lineup onto the back foot.

Despite the early losses, Glenn Phillips and Tim Seifert attempted to stabilize the innings. However, Bumrah’s exceptional skill saw him dismiss Seifert for 12 runs just before the end of the power-play, leaving New Zealand struggling at 3 for 38.

Resilience from Phillips and Chapman

Mark Chapman and Phillips then sought to rebuild the innings. Both batters demonstrated resilience, rotating the strike effectively as New Zealand reached 75 for 3 at the halfway mark. Phillips had scored 30 runs, while Chapman contributed 28 runs, providing some hope for the visitors.

In the closing overs, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner managed to score 27 runs off 17 balls, showcasing some resistance. Bumrah then wrapped up the innings by dismissing Santner in the final over, while Jacob Duffy and Ish Sodhi added nine runs in the last over, leading New Zealand to a total of 153 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

India now has the opportunity to secure the series in the fourth match, needing just 154 runs to achieve a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
