Union Minister Advocates Organic Farming at Mandsaur Conference

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Bhagirath Choudhary has called on farmers to adopt organic and natural farming practices to safeguard the environment. His remarks came during the Farmers’ Conference, held on the foundation day of the Sipani Agricultural Research Centre in Changli, Mandsaur, on March 15, 2024, as part of the initiative dubbed “Farmer Welfare Year 2026.”

During the conference, Choudhary acknowledged the significant challenges facing farmers today but assured them that the Agriculture Ministry is dedicated to offering comprehensive support. He emphasized the need for a shift towards sustainable farming methods, which not only benefit the farmers but also contribute to environmental conservation.

Engagement with Agricultural Innovation

In addition to his address, Minister Choudhary inspected the research facilities at the Sipani Agricultural Research Centre. He engaged with agricultural scientists to gain insights into various aspects of wheat cultivation, including seed quality, irrigation techniques, and production capacity. Choudhary also visited experimental fields to evaluate different crop varieties, showcasing a hands-on approach to understanding agricultural advancements.

As part of the event, the minister inaugurated a state-of-the-art seed testing laboratory and a farmers’ auditorium at the centre. He also attended a seed exhibition that highlighted innovations in seed technology and sustainable agriculture practices.

Recognition was given to young farmer Rajesh Gurjar, who was honored for his commendable work on testing 570 seed varieties. This acknowledgment underscores the importance of grassroots contributions to agricultural research and development.

The conference featured addresses from other notable political figures, including Lok Sabha MP Sudhir Gupta and Rajya Sabha MP Banshilal Gurjar.
