Six Vignan University Faculty Recognized as Top 2% Scientists
Six faculty members from Vignan’s University, located in Guntur district, have received prestigious recognition as among the world’s top 2% scientists. The announcement was made by Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Nagabhushan during a ceremony held on Saturday. This accolade is based on a comprehensive survey conducted by Stanford University in California, USA, which evaluated scientists’ contributions globally.
The faculty members honored include Prof. Ambati Ranga Rao and Dr. K. Chandrasekhar from the Department of Biotechnology, Dr. Rudrapal Mithun from Pharmacy, Dr. Jyotsna Devi Bodapati from Advanced Computer Science and Engineering, Prof. T. Subbayya from Chemical Engineering, and Dr. Rahman, affiliated with the Mechanical Engineering department at the Hyderabad off-campus.
Evaluation Criteria and Global Impact
Prof. Nagabhushan elaborated on the rigorous assessment process undertaken by Stanford University. The evaluation utilized the Standard Science Metrics Classification, which encompasses 44 fields and 174 sub-fields. This assessment focuses on various metrics, including research output, publications, H-index, citations, and other scholarly contributions, up to August 2025.
This recognition not only highlights the academic excellence of Vignan’s University but also underscores the institution’s commitment to fostering research and innovation. The chairman of Vignan’s Educational Institutions, Dr. Lavu Rathaiah, along with deans and department heads, expressed their congratulations to the six professors for their international acclaim.
The acknowledgment from Stanford University places these faculty members in an elite category of scientists, showcasing their valuable contributions to their respective fields. This honor reflects the growing reputation of Vignan’s University on a global stage and its role in advancing knowledge and expertise in various scientific disciplines.
