The Tribal Welfare Department of Madhya Pradesh has officially included the School of Aviation at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) in its list of recognized educational institutions, nearly eighteen months after the initial application. This inclusion allows eligible students from reserved categories to apply for government scholarship schemes, significantly easing financial barriers for those pursuing aviation-related studies.

As part of this approval, the department has issued institutional and course codes for four specific programs, facilitating student registration on the scholarship portal starting in February 2025. Although most programs have received their course codes, the BBA Aviation course is still awaiting its designation, which is expected to be finalized soon. The delay in this process had previously hindered students’ ability to access available scholarships, despite their eligibility.

The School of Aviation, Tourism and Hospital Administration was established in August 2024, and it currently offers a range of programs including BBA Aviation, BBA Logistics, BBA Retail Operations, and both two- and five-year MBA Tourism courses. A total of 280 seats are available across these five programs, with admissions for the second cohort already completed this academic year.

Officials from the Tribal Welfare Department acknowledged the challenges students faced during the lengthy approval process. The university had submitted all necessary documentation both online and in person at the department’s headquarters, yet the required codes were not issued until recently.

The state government has expressed a commitment to promoting the aviation sector by encouraging related courses in public institutions. With the recent approvals, the path is clearer for students to benefit from scholarship schemes. Once the final course code is issued, approximately 450 students from both batches are expected to take advantage of these opportunities, helping to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with their education.

This development marks a significant step forward in enhancing access to education within the aviation field, particularly for students from underrepresented communities who may have faced barriers in the past. The approval is likely to foster greater participation in aviation studies, aligning with the government’s efforts to strengthen this vital sector.
