Tech CEO Sets Record with India’s Most Expensive Number Plate
In a striking development in the world of luxury vehicles, Venu Gopalakrishnan, the CEO of Litmus7 Systems Consulting Pvt. Ltd., has acquired India’s most expensive number plate for a staggering Rs 45.99 lakh. This unique registration, KL 07 DG 0007, adds an exclusive touch to his newly purchased Lamborghini Urus Performante, which cost approximately Rs 4 crore.
The significant transaction took place during an online auction conducted by the Motor Vehicles Department of the State of Kerala on April 7, 2025. Gopalakrishnan, a prominent figure in the tech industry based in Kochi, won the coveted number plate that has become a symbol of luxury and status among car enthusiasts. The bidding for this rare registration began at just Rs 25,000, highlighting the dramatic escalation in its value throughout the auction.
The number plate’s allure stems from its connection to the iconic James Bond character, known for his secret agent code ‘007’. This cultural reference enhances the plate’s appeal, making it a highly sought-after item for collectors and luxury car owners alike. Gopalakrishnan’s lime-green Lamborghini, reported as the first of its kind in Kerala, complements his impressive collection of high-end vehicles. He previously owned a Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato and a BM1000 XR bike, showcasing his penchant for luxury automobiles.
This purchase reflects a broader trend in the luxury market, where personalized items, including unique registration numbers, are increasingly viewed as status symbols. The rising value of such exclusive number plates signifies a shift in consumer preferences toward more individualized luxury experiences.
Gopalakrishnan’s decision to invest in the number plate has not only made headlines but also set a new benchmark for vehicle registration costs in Kerala. He shared a video of his new Lamborghini on Instagram, further emphasizing the excitement surrounding his latest acquisition.
In a world where luxury and exclusivity reign supreme, Gopalakrishnan’s purchase exemplifies how high-net-worth individuals are willing to go to stand out. The combination of a high-performance vehicle and a unique plate positions him at the forefront of the luxury automotive landscape in India.
