Spiritual Renewal Shines at Konkani Charismatic Retreat in Mumbai

A three-day Konkani Charismatic Retreat concluded on October 23, 2023, at the Our Lady of Health Church in Sahar-Andheri, Mumbai. Led by Fr Richard Quadros, Spiritual Director of the Divine Retreat Centres in Potta and Bejai-Mangalore, the retreat focused on the theme “Povitr Atma Cho Pavs” or “Rain of the Holy Spirit.” This event attracted a large number of attendees seeking spiritual renewal and blessings.

During the retreat, Fr Quadros emphasized the importance of receiving the Holy Spirit through a life characterized by gentleness and purity. He conveyed that every individual possesses the Holy Spirit and that divine grace should flow from God to believers and then to others. “Firmness of faith in the believer’s heart is essential,” he stated, highlighting the Holy Spirit’s role in providing wisdom, clarity, and healing.

Fr Quadros urged participants to cultivate love in the face of hatred, harmony instead of discord, and hope where there is despair. He called for a shift in focus, encouraging individuals to offer consolation rather than seek it themselves. “When we become eager to give rather than to receive, we are born into eternal life,” he noted. His message underscored the significance of prayer as a means to become instruments of God’s peace in the world.

The retreat, organized under the guidance of Fr Rui Comelo, included various spiritual activities such as a thanksgiving Eucharist, adoration, healing services, and intercessory prayers, all led by Fr Quadros. It was a collaborative effort supported by parishioners, including Ivor Sequeira and Mathias Lobo, who helped coordinate the event.

The music ministry, a vital element of the retreat, was led by Dr Deepak Kumar alongside vocalists Evanika Pinto and Anjali D’Souza. Their contributions enhanced the spiritual atmosphere, creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

As the retreat concluded with a solemn Eucharistic celebration, participants departed with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to living out the teachings they received. The event not only served as a spiritual gathering for the Konkani community but also reinforced the values of compassion, understanding, and faith that Fr Quadros so passionately advocated.
