Ramakrishna Mission Launches Human Development Centre in Vijayawada
The Ramakrishna Mission is set to inaugurate the Vivekananda Human Development Centre in Vijayawada on February 1, 2024. Located in Gandhi Nagar, this facility will focus on providing value-based training and education in personality development and ethical leadership, particularly aimed at youth preparing for competitive examinations such as the UPSC and other civil services.
The six-storey centre, which has been constructed at a cost of ₹8.5 crore, is strategically situated opposite Shailaja Theatre. It features classrooms, a library, a book stall, guest rooms, a temple, and dining facilities, along with cafeterias. The inauguration will be presided over by Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, the president of the Ramakrishna Mission, with M. Venkaiah Naidu, former Vice-President of India, serving as the chief guest.
Programs and Objectives of the Centre
The centre aims to address various contemporary challenges facing the youth, such as mental stress and digital addiction. Its programs will include meditation, yoga, mental discipline, communication skills, and moral education. Officials from the Ramakrishna Mission have stated that the facility is modeled after the Hyderabad Ramakrishna Mission’s Human Excellence Centre, which has successfully trained over 1.8 million individuals in the last two decades.
In conjunction with the inauguration, a youth conclave, or yuva sammelanam, will be held in the afternoon. This event will feature interactive sessions with senior monks from Ramakrishna Mission centres located in Hyderabad, Karnataka, and Kadapa. The day will culminate with cultural programs and a memorial meeting in honour of Swami Ranganathananda.
Contributing to National Goals
The Vijayawada Ramakrishna Mission is celebrating 25 years of service, and officials believe that the new centre will play a significant role in contributing to the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. This initiative is intended to foster disciplined, value-driven, and socially responsible youth, aligning with the broader goals of societal development.
The inauguration coincides with Magha Purnima and the birth anniversary of Swami Adbhutanandaji Maharaj, adding further significance to the event. The Ramakrishna Mission’s commitment to human development continues to resonate through its efforts to enhance the lives of individuals in the community.
