Loreto English Medium High School Hosts Joyful Christmas Celebration

The atmosphere at the Loreto English Medium High School in Bantwal was filled with joy and devotion as the community came together to celebrate Christmas on December 25, 2023. The event, held in the school auditorium, featured several dignitaries, including the school manager, Fr Francis Crasta, and the chief guest, Fr Melwin Lobo, headmaster of Infant Jesus English Medium School in Modankap.

The celebration began with the dignitaries unveiling a gift box and decorating the Christmas tree with name plates symbolizing peace, joy, and a heartfelt “Merry Christmas.” This festive act set the tone for the day’s events, which included a vibrant cultural program showcasing the talents of the students.

Christmas Activities and Cultural Performances

On the eve of Christmas, the school organized a Christmas Star Making Competition, fostering creativity among the students. Winners of the competition were honored by Fr Melwin Lobo and other dignitaries, emphasizing the spirit of participation and celebration. In his address, Fr Lobo encouraged the students to embrace the core values of love, hope, humility, and service to others—principles that resonate deeply during the festive season.

In his remarks, Fr Francis Crasta highlighted the true spirit of Christmas, urging attendees to focus on love, sharing, and caring for one another. He spoke about the significance of faith in Jesus, who provides comfort and helps individuals navigate life’s challenges.

The cultural program was a highlight of the event, featuring melodious carol singing, a skit that depicted the birth of Jesus, an angel dance, and the cheerful arrival of Santa Claus. The program was expertly compered by Chinthana, a sixth-grade student, with the welcome address delivered by Ashimita from grade eight. The vote of thanks was proposed by Muhamin of grade seven, ensuring that all contributors were recognized for their efforts.

The celebration not only marked a significant festive occasion but also reinforced the values of community and togetherness within the school. As students and staff shared in the joy of the season, the event served as a reminder of the importance of kindness and unity, echoing the powerful message of Christmas.
