Indian Army Celebrates Holi with Tinsukia Orphanage Children
The Indian Army’s Red Shield Gunners brought joy to the Nava Rupantar orphanage in Tinsukia, Assam, by celebrating Holi with the children. On March 26, 2024, approximately 20 children, aged between 8 and 17 years, participated in the festivities, which were characterized by laughter, colors, and a sense of community.
The Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) highlighted the heartfelt interactions between soldiers and the children, emphasizing that the event was marked by genuine affection. “Colours of joy flooded the orphanage,” the PRO stated, reflecting the vibrant atmosphere as children and soldiers engaged in playful activities. The celebration transformed into a warm gathering, where soldiers took the time to listen and interact with the children, ensuring each child felt valued and included.
During the festivities, the significance of Holi as a festival of unity and positivity was communicated, reinforcing values of harmony and togetherness. Sweets were distributed, adding a delightful touch to the day and strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and the local community. The smiles and laughter of the children illustrated the essence of Holi, showcasing the spirit of love and togetherness that transcended barriers.
Empowering Local Communities through Skill Development
In addition to the Holi celebrations, the Indian Army organized a bakery training program in Menchuka, Arunachal Pradesh, starting on March 2, 2024. This month-long initiative aimed to empower local communities and promote self-reliance among residents.
The training program was crafted to provide participants with practical knowledge in bakery techniques, covering essential skills such as bread making, cake preparation, and hygiene standards in food processing. Army instructors conducted the sessions, ensuring that trainees received both theoretical and hands-on experience.
The program attracted significant interest, particularly from women, with 15 participants engaging enthusiastically over the course of the month. This initiative is part of the Army’s broader commitment to enhance livelihood opportunities and strengthen civil-military relations in remote border areas.
By enabling participants to acquire entrepreneurial skills in the bakery sector, the Indian Army aims to foster small-scale bakery enterprises, contributing to local economic growth and employment generation. The program reflects the Army’s ongoing efforts in community welfare and youth engagement, reinforcing trust and cooperation with the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Through events like the Holi celebration and skill development initiatives, the Indian Army continues to make a positive impact on local communities, nurturing bonds and uplifting lives in diverse ways.
