Fr Vijay Lobo Earns PhD for Innovative Oral Cancer Research
Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of Anugraha Pre-University College in Ujire, has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree by PRIST University in Thanjavur. His doctoral research focused on the potential effects of theaflavin and its derivatives on oral cancer, presenting findings from both laboratory and animal studies.
The thesis, titled “The potential effects of theaflavin and its derivative on oral cancer: In vitro and in vivo studies,” explores the therapeutic possibilities of theaflavin compounds in the treatment of oral cancer. This significant research contributes to the understanding of how these compounds may offer new avenues for cancer treatment.
Fr Lobo conducted his research under the mentorship of Dr Bhakrudeen Ali Ahmed, a professor in the Department of Biochemistry at PRIST University. His dedication to education and research reflects a commitment to advancing knowledge in the field of health sciences.
