Vadodara Students Shine with Innovations in National Ideathon
Students from Vadodara have achieved national recognition for their innovative projects, earning a spot among the top 100 entries at the School Youth Ideathon. This prestigious event was organized by the Things Startup Foundation in collaboration with IIT Delhi. Their efforts include a financial literacy board game designed for visually impaired learners and a screen-free interactive learning device aimed at children.
Two students from Anand Vidya Vihar, Mysha Kunal Desai and Arayana Gaurav Sharma, developed an educational board game called Money Managers under their start-up, The Playful Monks. This game aims to enhance financial literacy among visually impaired students by introducing fundamental concepts such as mutual funds, systematic investment plans (SIPs), and lump-sum investments. The game features an octagonal board with 40 learning squares and is fully accessible, with all components, including the board, cards, and rulebook, produced in Braille. The team will showcase their innovation at IIT Delhi on January 18, 2024.
Another Vadodara student, Daivik Belligundu from New Era Senior Secondary School, also made it into the top 100 with his project, Knowledge Bot. This device provides instant spoken responses and supports patient, repetitive learning for children with autism. Both entries highlight the students’ commitment to creating inclusive educational tools.
Vice President of Parul University, Geetika Madan Patel, who serves as a trustee for both schools, commended the students for their remarkable achievements. She emphasized that their work reflects a strong focus on innovation, empathy, and critical thinking in school education. Patel noted the importance of fostering such skills in the current educational landscape.
The recognition received at the School Youth Ideathon underscores the potential of young innovators in addressing significant societal challenges. By developing accessible educational resources, these students not only pave the way for greater inclusivity but also inspire others to think creatively in solving real-world problems.
The event serves as a platform for students to present their ideas and innovations, encouraging a culture of entrepreneurship and social responsibility among the youth.
