Uttar Pradesh Plans Major Recruitment for Medical College Positions in 2026
The government of Uttar Pradesh is preparing for a significant recruitment drive in 2026 aimed at filling teaching and technical positions in government medical colleges. This initiative will create approximately 1,200 jobs for roles including Assistant Professor, Professor, and Lecturer in Pharmacy, as stated in a recent press release from the state’s information department.
The recruitment effort is designed to enhance the state’s health education system and provide employment opportunities for young individuals. According to the release, this move aligns with the government’s commitment to improving health services and medical education across the region.
Details of the Recruitment Drive
The initiative will see the selection of candidates through the Public Service Commission located in Prayagraj. Amit Kumar Ghosh, the Additional Chief Secretary for Health and Medical Education, confirmed that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had previously directed the department to address the existing vacancies in medical colleges.
As part of this recruitment, the Medical Education Department has submitted requisitions for a total of 1,112 Assistant Professor, 44 Professor, and 11 Lecturer (Pharmacy) positions. The government plans to issue advertisements for these positions in the near future, signaling a proactive approach to enhancing the medical faculty available in the state’s institutions.
In addition to the recruitment for teaching positions, the state government is also set to distribute appointment letters to 1,230 nursing officers—both male and female—who have been selected by the Public Service Commission. This distribution will further bolster healthcare services in government hospitals and medical colleges throughout Uttar Pradesh.
Strengthening Medical Education in Uttar Pradesh
Medical education in Uttar Pradesh has evolved significantly, with the government striving to establish medical colleges in nearly every district. The administration recognizes that having qualified faculty and trained staff is essential for maintaining educational quality in these new institutions.
The upcoming recruitment is a critical step towards ensuring that these colleges are staffed adequately, thereby supporting the overall health services framework within the state. The government’s focus on enhancing medical education and healthcare quality underscores its commitment to better serve the population and address the healthcare needs of the community.
This recruitment initiative not only aims to provide jobs to the youth but also to strengthen the foundation of medical education in Uttar Pradesh. The government’s proactive measures demonstrate an understanding of the importance of having well-trained professionals in the healthcare sector, which is vital for improving public health outcomes.
