Union Health Minister Nadda Advocates Amrit Pharmacies in Districts
Union Health Minister JP Nadda has called for the establishment of Amrit Pharmacies in every district hospital across Haryana. These pharmacies are designed to provide substantial discounts of up to 50% on branded medications, aiming to make healthcare more affordable for residents. During a high-level review meeting with State Health Minister Arti Singh Rao and senior officials, Nadda emphasized the importance of collaboration with HLL Lifecare Ltd to facilitate the implementation of these pharmacies.
In addition to the pharmacy initiative, Nadda highlighted the critical need for stringent drug regulation. He stated that continuous monitoring throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain is essential for maintaining the quality of medicines available to the public. This commitment to quality assurance is particularly relevant in the context of the ongoing Free Drugs and Free Diagnostics schemes, which aim to provide essential medical services at no cost.
Nadda stressed that effective supply-chain systems and thorough monitoring practices are vital for the success of these initiatives. He pointed out that the role of diagnostics is indispensable in healthcare delivery, noting that timely and accurate testing is fundamental to effective treatment.
The Union Minister reiterated the Central Government’s support for Haryana through various initiatives under the National Health Mission. These initiatives include public-private partnership models, funding for expanding medical education, viability gap funding, and infrastructure support. Nadda’s remarks reflect a broader commitment to delivering modern and affordable healthcare services to the state’s population.
As the plans for Amrit Pharmacies move forward, the focus will remain on enhancing access to quality medications and ensuring that healthcare delivery systems are robust and reliable. The government’s proactive approach aims to address the healthcare needs of residents while fostering an environment of trust in the pharmaceutical supply chain.
