Union Government Allocates ₹80 Crore for Health Centres in Karnataka
The Union Government of India has allocated ₹80 crore from the 15th Finance Commission Fund for the establishment of 124 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) in Dakshina Kannada, as announced by Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta. This funding aims to enhance healthcare access and services in the region.
Each Health and Wellness Centre will receive a sanction of ₹65 lakh. The centres are designed to occupy a space of approximately 2,000 square feet. The ground floor will feature essential facilities, including a clinic, a kshema centre, a day care centre, and a washroom. The residential quarters for the medical officer will be located on the first floor, ensuring accessibility for both staff and patients.
Investment in Local Healthcare Infrastructure
The introduction of these centres aligns with the broader objectives of the Ayushman Bharat initiative, which seeks to provide comprehensive and affordable healthcare across India. The investment of ₹80 crore indicates a significant commitment by the government to bolster local healthcare infrastructure.
Health and Wellness Centres are expected to play a crucial role in delivering preventive and primary healthcare services. With the growing population and rising health issues, these facilities aim to address the increasing demand for healthcare services in Dakshina Kannada.
As stated by MP Brijesh Chowta, the establishment of these HWCs will not only improve healthcare access but also create job opportunities within the community. The centres are anticipated to become a vital resource for residents, enhancing their overall health and well-being.
The funding and development of these centres are part of a larger strategy to modernize healthcare services in rural and semi-urban areas of India. By focusing on health and wellness, the government aims to reduce the burden on tertiary healthcare facilities and promote preventive care.
In conclusion, the creation of 124 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres in Dakshina Kannada marks a significant step towards improving healthcare access in the region. With a dedicated investment from the Union Government, these centres are set to make a positive impact on the health landscape of the area, benefiting residents for years to come.
