SCR Medical Officers Host Breast Cancer Awareness Event

In Vijayawada, medical officers at the Divisional Railway Hospital, part of South Central Railway (SCR), organized a special awareness program on October 31, 2025. This event marked the conclusion of the month-long observance of World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which runs from October 1 to 31.

The program featured participation from the Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr. A.V.S.K. Prasad, along with Additional Chief Medical Superintendent (Health and Family Welfare), Dr. M. Jaideep, and Consultant Medical Oncologist, Dr. K. Lakshmi Priyadarshini. Their collective aim was to educate women about the importance of breast cancer prevention and early detection.

During the event, Dr. Prasad emphasized the necessity for women aged 40 and above to undergo regular health check-ups. He stated, “Awareness and early detection are crucial components in the fight against breast cancer.” His message underscored the hospital’s commitment to promoting health initiatives that can significantly impact women’s lives.

Dr. Jaideep reinforced this sentiment, noting that early detection is vital for effective treatment. He pointed out that knowledge and awareness are the first steps towards saving lives and reducing the incidence of breast cancer.
