Actor Imran Khan has opened up about his journey towards emotional healing, crediting his daughter, Imara, and partner, Lekha Washington, with playing pivotal roles in his recovery. In a recent interview with NDTV, Khan shared insights regarding his mental health struggles and the transformative power of love and fatherhood.

Khan, who took a step back from acting after experiencing mental health challenges, reflected on the impact of his personal relationships on his well-being. He stated, “To be loved by someone truly gives you strength and heals you. To give love truthfully and selflessly to another also is empowering and healing.” He emphasized that this healing journey has been significantly influenced by the love he receives from Imara and Lekha.

The actor’s reflections follow a period of upheaval in his life, particularly after his divorce from Avantika Malik in 2019. Finding love again with Washington has brought him a renewed sense of purpose and emotional stability. Khan noted that therapy has also played a crucial role in his recovery, with consistent efforts leading to steady improvements in his mental health.

“The last few years in particular, every year has been better than the last,” Khan remarked, highlighting his desire to return to the film industry. He has expressed a readiness to embrace new projects, feeling settled within himself, and ready to channel his experiences into his work.

Khan described fatherhood as a grounding force, stating, “I put her to bed. I would feed her. Even now, I just got back from picking her up from school.” He emphasized the joy and purpose that comes from being present in his daughter’s life. His dedication to parenting has led him to adjust his professional commitments, ensuring he spends quality time with Imara. He shared the challenges he faces in balancing work and family time, saying, “It takes a lot to get me to give up on that.”

The actor has previously addressed public speculation regarding his health, particularly following paparazzi photos that sparked rumors of substance abuse. In a candid Instagram post, he expressed the shame he felt during that tumultuous time, stating, “I felt deeply ashamed, embarrassed to be seen by anyone in this state.” Despite the challenges, he affirmed his progress, noting his commitment to fitness and healthy living, aided by his friend and trainer.

Khan is set to make his return to the big screen in the upcoming film Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, which is scheduled for release on March 15, 2024. As he continues to navigate his personal and professional life, Khan’s story serves as a testament to resilience and the profound impact of love and support on healing.
