Haryana Proposes Five New Cath Labs to Enhance Health Services
The government of Haryana has announced plans to establish five new catheterisation laboratories (cath labs) in various government medical colleges and district hospitals. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the state’s health infrastructure and improve accessibility to quality medical services.
Dr. Sumita Misra, the Additional Chief Secretary for Health, confirmed the rapid expansion of health services during a review meeting on Thursday. She highlighted that Haryana has achieved an impressive 91 percent capital expenditure utilisation rate, having spent Rs 866.96 crore of the allocated Rs 951.51 crore. This financial efficiency underscores the government’s commitment to advancing healthcare facilities across the state.
As part of ongoing developments, seven new medical colleges are currently under construction in Haryana. Dr. Misra noted that the government has also dedicated Rs 1,173.05 crore for revenue expenditure to ensure uninterrupted health services. This investment is aimed at meeting the growing healthcare needs of the state’s population.
Expansion of Diagnostic Services
In addition to the new cath labs, the government is making significant strides in enhancing diagnostic services. A spokesperson indicated that tenders for 10 MRI units have already been completed, paving the way for MRI services to become available in all 23 district hospitals. Furthermore, 17 CT scan facilities are already operational, with tenders finalised for four additional units.
The establishment of the Atal Cancer Care Centre in Ambala Cantt has also been completed, providing critical cancer care services. To further augment diagnostic capabilities, tenders for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) facilities have been initiated.
These developments reflect the Haryana government’s proactive approach to healthcare, aiming to improve patient outcomes and access to medical services throughout the region. With the proposed expansion of cath labs and enhanced diagnostic capabilities, residents can expect a notable improvement in healthcare delivery in the near future.
