Global Experts Converge at Kakatiya College for Biomedical Advances
A three-day international conference focusing on biomedical research concluded at Kakatiya Government College in Warangal, bringing together leading experts from around the world. Held from February 19 to 21, 2026, the event titled “Biomedical Research for Global Health: Advances, Opportunities and Challenges” highlighted significant breakthroughs in various fields such as cancer biology, drug discovery, and artificial intelligence.
Hosted by the Department of Zoology, the conference featured a hybrid format, allowing participants to engage both in person and virtually. The keynote address delivered by Prof. Karnam Srinivas Murthy from Virginia Commonwealth University set the tone for the discussions, emphasizing the molecular foundations that underpin modern medicine.
Key Presentations and Themes
Throughout the conference, technical sessions explored a breadth of themes pertinent to the current landscape of biomedical science. Notable presentations included insights from Prof. R. Suresh of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, who discussed the hallmarks of cancer, and Prof. D. Samba Reddy from Texas A&M University, who focused on innovative pathways for drug development.
Other significant contributions came from Prof. A. Uma of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, who presented on functional nutrition strategies, and Prof. Rajendar of the National Institute of Nutrition, who lectured on genetic factors involved in mitigating lifestyle diseases. The event also featured discussions on advances in parasitic disease research, cardiovascular therapeutics, and the role of animal models in biomedical research, presented by Prof. Shamitha from Kakatiya University.
Emerging Strategies and Future Directions
As the conference progressed, topics such as stem cell research and artificial intelligence in drug design gained prominence. On the final day, Prof. A. Satish Babu delivered a lecture on stem cells for functional tissue regeneration, while Prof. Perugu Syam from the National Institute of Technology Warangal discussed the application of AI in drug discovery. Additionally, Prof. Y. Venkaiah presented insights on metagenomics, showcasing the diverse research directions being pursued within the field.
The event was presided over by Prof. G. Srinivas, the Principal of Kakatiya Government College, with Dr. P. Rohini, Assistant Professor of Zoology, serving as the convener and organizing secretary. The conference not only fostered interdisciplinary collaboration but also addressed global health challenges, emphasizing the importance of innovative research in improving health outcomes worldwide.
As the discussions came to a close, participants left with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to tackle the pressing issues facing global health through collaboration and shared knowledge.
