Domestic Help Fatally Struck by Dumper in Pune Accident

A tragic accident in Sus, a locality in Pune, resulted in the death of a 51-year-old domestic worker on the morning of March 6, 2024. The victim, identified as Vaishali Pakhare, was en route to her workplace in Baner when she was struck by a dumper truck.

The incident occurred around 07:30 hours as Pakhare was navigating her scooter near the Sus crematorium. According to the Bavdhan police, she lost her balance while attempting to avoid a pothole on the road, which caused her to fall. An officer from the Bavdhan police department stated, “A dumper plying behind her scooter ran over her.”

Emergency responders pronounced Pakhare dead at the scene. Following the incident, the dumper driver surrendered to the police, who subsequently arrested him on charges of negligent driving. A case of causing death due to negligence has been filed against the driver.

The community is mourning the loss of Pakhare, who was a valued member of her household and contributed significantly to her family’s income. The accident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the condition of local infrastructure, particularly the presence of potholes that pose risks to drivers and pedestrians alike.
