Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna Unite for ‘Rana Baali’
Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have officially announced their upcoming film titled Rana Baali, marking their third collaboration. The film is set to release worldwide on September 11, 2026, with high expectations from their fans eager for another on-screen reunion.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Rana Baali presents a historical narrative inspired by real events that occurred in India between 1854 and 1878. The production aims to shed light on the brutal realities of British colonial rule through gripping visuals and storytelling. The film’s first look, shared by Deverakonda, hints at a powerful portrayal of the struggles faced during this tumultuous period in Indian history.
A Powerful Historical Narrative
In the announcement shared on social media, Deverakonda described his character as a “savage,” stating, “The British called him a ‘SAVAGE.’ I do not disagree. He was ‘OUR’ savage! Introducing the one and only ‘RANA BAALI’ and setting the record straight on our history which they tried to bury.” This quote encapsulates the film’s intention to confront historical narratives that have been overlooked.
The glimpse of the film depicts a “Cursed Land” and its legendary hero, illustrating the harsh realities of colonial policies that led to widespread suffering and economic exploitation. The project aims to raise awareness about the severity of these historical injustices, making it a significant release in the Indian film industry.
In a noteworthy casting choice, Arnold Vosloo will play the antagonist, Sir Theodore Hector, further enhancing the film’s dramatic tension. Meanwhile, Mandanna portrays Jayamma, contributing to the film’s emotional depth.
Reviving a Successful Partnership
The reunion of Deverakonda and Mandanna is particularly exciting for fans, as the duo previously starred in successful films such as Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Their chemistry has resonated with audiences, and the anticipation surrounding Rana Baali is palpable. The film is under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers, known for producing high-profile projects such as the Pushpa franchise, and represents Deverakonda’s third collaboration with the studio.
Additionally, the film is co-produced by T-Series, with music composed by the renowned duo Ajay–Atul. Their involvement promises to elevate the film’s scale and grandeur, further enhancing its appeal.
As anticipation builds for Rana Baali, fans and critics alike are eager to see how this ambitious project will unfold, with its release positioned to make a significant impact in the Indian cinema landscape.
